Students will focus on learning proper dance technique such as isolations of the body, improving performance quality and developing complex rhythms and patterns. Class curriculum is based on ballet technique layered with traditional jazz movement and includes a proper warm-up, stretches, isolations, across-the-floor progressions, and combinations.
Students will learn classical ballet techniques and terminology. Each class includes barre exercises, center floor work, and across-the-floor combinations. The ballet curriculum is based on Cecchetti methods. As students progress through each level, curriculum will become increasingly more complex and intricate.
Beginning pointe class can be taken on flat or in pointe shoes at the instructor's discretion. All pointe classes are designed for students with previous ballet training. Students will utilize previously learned ballet technique while working in pointe shoes. Each class includes barre exercises, center floor work and across the floor combinations. These exercises focus on strengthening the feet and ankles. Students must be invited to attend this class.
Students will develop rhythm, style and sound. Students will learn a variety of tap styles from Broadway to Rhythm tap. Exercises focus on building flexibility of the knee and ankles, coordination, and speed of movement. The class emphasis is on developing proper tap technique, producing clear tap sounds, and having fun.
Students must have previous training in ballet to attend this class. Students will explore partnering and weight sharing exercises combined with basic techniques and skills from ballet and jazz. It emphasizes interpretation of music lyrics while telling a story with movement that can be fluid or abstract. Students must take this class in conjunction with ballet.
Students will focus on learning leaps, tricks, and turns helping each dancer identify and work on specific techniques and skills needed to improve their understanding and performance of these specific moves.
Musical Theatre class will focus on learning proper dance technique while exploring the various dance styles used in Broadway shows. Class curriculum is based on ballet technique layered with Broadway style jazz movement and includes a proper warm-up, stretches, isolations, across-the-floor progressions, and combinations. Emphasis will also be placed on learning performance skills such as connecting with the audience and telling a story through dance and facial expressions.
Hip Hop is a high-energy class that infuses the latest styles of street dancing, breaking, popping, and locking. Classes will encourage students to step outside of the box by bringing their own individual style and personality to the movements. Hip hop dance requires students to have the strength and stamina to successfully perform moves. Therefore, class includes upper and lower body conditioning as well as a rigorous warm-up to help prepare students for more intense movements.
Tiny Tot combination classes are a great way for students to experience two types of dance genres. Classes are available for students 2 through 6 years old. The main focus of combination classes is on students having fun and enjoying dance while building a solid foundation of dance skills and techniques. Class placement is based on age as well as a student's ability to learn.
